As COVID-19 shuttered businesses around the country, people everywhere were out of work. Those in the service and hospitality industry were hit especially hard, something comedian Mike Birbiglia realized on his way home from a cancelled appearance in upstate New York. Mike, along with comedian friends like John Mulaney, Roy Moore Jr and Sarah Silverman responded by testing out new material on Instagram Live to raise money for the staffs of comedy clubs around the country.

Working with Mike and his team on a pro-bono basis, altr concepted a website, that would host snippets of Mike’s shows and help visitors discover local fundraisers for the staff of their local comedy clubs.

Design & Delivery

Designed, built, and launched in just over two weeks by altr teammates who donated their time, the new website became the center of the Mike and his fellow comedians’ efforts to help clubs raise a goal of over $1M through individual donations and Sam Adams, the effort’s corporate sponsor.
